GLOBAL OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

 

Guard monitors the Handicap International premises in order to guarantee the security of all goods, equipment and personnel on his/her assignment area

 

HIERARCHICAL RELATIONSHIPS

 

Line manager: Logistics Officer in very close collaboration with the rest of the team.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS DESCRIPTION

 

Security

  • Ensure that doors to premises and stocks are locked or padlocked
  • Maintain sufficient lighting throughout the premises being monitored
  • Ensure that all equipment at his/her disposal functions properly
  • Record in the log book all visitors, vehicles that enter and leave the premises and their passengers, and the movements of people on foot
  • Check that at least one occupant of every Handicap International vehicle is in possession of a means of communication
  • Stand watch at the entrance door and patrol within the premises.
  • Write a service report after being relieved and a situation report whenever assuming duty
  • Ensure constant radio monitoring / remain in constant contact
  • If necessary, sound the alarm using the means provided for this purpose
  • If an incident occurs during service, inform the line manager immediately
  • Watch HI premises and property’s perimeter fence through regular patrols
  • Remain on duty until other watchman comes to do a handover and never leave post unattended.
  • Ensure correct use of fire extinguishers and be aware of their location.
  • Contact Line Manager for prior authorizing visitors access to the premises

 

Even if a Guard is asked to protect and secure goods, areas and people, under no circumstances may he use force or risk his life. If danger arises, he should use common sense and training provided to manage the situation in the best possible way.

 

Welcome

  • Filter, monitor and organize the arrival and departure of people and goods affected by or in transit through his/her assignment area.
  • Open the gate for vehicles and, if necessary, guide drivers entering and leaving the Handicap International premises.

 

 

Other tasks

  • Activate and switch off the generator as needed or as specified by established procedure, and fill out the log book.
  • Ensure that there is always a fuel reserve in the generator and check the oil level
  • Ensuring the cleanness of HI compound.

 

Note that this job description must remain flexible, to respond to additional tasks or changes as identified by the line manager.

 

 

 

TIME SCHEDULE

 

Monthly salaries are based on a 40-hour workweek including a 1-hour lunch break.

HI Management reserves the right to change employee’s work schedule as business need, however work hours will remain within the maximum of an average 48 hours per week.

 

This Position is a part time contract. He/she will be working under request by line manager to cover his teammates Annual leave, sick leaves etc.

 

Note that working time can go up to 40 hours per week (according to the Libyan labour law) if it is required by the volume of activities and by the line manager.
