Job Site:          Tripoli – Libya

Report to:

  • Hierarchical: Deputy Branch manager/ Programme Coordinator
  • Functional: HQ Medical Unit

Status:             Collaborator/Full time

Key responsibilities:

Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, INTERSOS strategy, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries health conditions

Health activities coordination

  • Lead the development and preparation of the health program/s and be responsible for managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting of program progress of a sector of the health (e.g. nutrition, gender, maternal, neonatal, child survival/development) program/s within the country program.
  • Plan, supervise and monitor health screening related activities in accordance with international standards and protocols
  • Actively participate in all health sectors meeting
  • Support the Deputy Branch Manager in the continuous liaison with local authorities and the Ministry of health in particular

Health activities implementation

  • Supervise the outpatient consultations and prescribe the necessary treatment respecting protocols.
  • Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
  • Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.

Health Activities Monitoring

  • With the help of the HQ Medical Unit and the Libya MEAL team, set up a functional and accurate database, to be used for all the health activities in Libya.
  • Supervise the collection and analysis of epidemiological data
  • Commit to a confidential clause: personal and medical information relating to patients is strictly confidential.

Health Unit Management

  • Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
  • Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to INTERSOS HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance

S/he will perform any other tasks requested by the supervisor in the framework of the activities foreseen by INTERSOS program in Libya.
