Job Overview
Position Title: Staff Counselor (Well-Being Officer).
Position Reports to: MHPSS Specialist.
Field Site: Tripoli.
Date Needed: 15th, March 2020.
Essential Responsibilities:
Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct group workshops/training, raising awareness and sensitization meetings, team building or other professional forms of support.
- Being the first point of contact for and responding internally to staff well-being / mental health inquiries and requests from staff.
- Ensuring access for staff to individual external counseling (by providing referrals and information about the available resources, including staff well-being resources available via IMC headquarters) for work related issues (work-related stress, trauma, interpersonal conflicts, harassment, and job insecurity, mental health and personal issues (family, marital, children or finance related problems).
- Advise on mental health resources and maintain an updated list of the verified mental health resources in the country / region.
- Maintain systems and practices that promote forward planning to ensure the team members have appropriate notice and materials for health and well-being activities.
- Collect, evaluate, and present data regarding well-being activities for reporting and decision-making purposes.
- Use relevant contextualized literature and research findings to improve well-being programs and outcomes.
- Contribute to the orientation of new team members related to staff well-being.
- Support the MHPSS Specialist in making linkages to other I/NGOs and UN agencies operating in Libya for starting collaborations and cross-learning on staff well-being themes.
- Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to personal and professional development.
- Participate in essential or mandatory training annually.
- Understand and adhere to IMC Code of Conduct.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Essential:
• Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience in psychology, social work, or counseling.
• Demonstrated clinical experience, including working with individuals or groups
• High levels of organizational ability
• Ability to organize multiple tasks efficiently
• High level of computer literacy (particularly Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to recognize and seek assistance from other relevant team members when tasks fall outside of ability or area of responsibility.
Desirable:
- Understanding of psychological challenges facing humanitarian workers and potential mitigation.
- Experience or knowledge of humanitarian programming.
Language Skills:
• Fluent Arabic and highly proficient written and spoken English (required).
