JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Protection Coordinator, the direct supervision of the Protection Officer (Community Based Protection), and in close coordination with other relevant units of the programme, the incumbent will provide assistance to the implementation, and monitoring of IOM Libya community based protection activities. The incumbent will be based in Tripoli with travels to other areas of responsibility throughout the country.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist senior protection staff in the strategic and operational planning of IOM Libya Protection activities related to alternatives to detention and the community-based care program. Contribute to project proposals, reports, standard operational procedures, multi-department planning, and other documents as required.
2. Supervise CTG Libya Protection Field Assistant’s staff: Distribute tasks, set work-plans and follow up on performance, plan daily visits to monitor the community hosting program.
3. Support administrative, financial, logistics and operational matters linked to the community-based care programme activities.
4. In collaboration with senior protection staff, provide regular training sessions to community hosts in accordance with standard operational procedures.
5. In collaboration with other IOM departments and senior protection staff, support the development of partnerships with key local stakeholders, including government and non-governmental partners.
6. Support the organisation and convening of meetings and workshops as required.
7. Ensure the accurate and timely storage of all relevant data in accordance with IOM’s data protection principles.
8. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor degree from an accredited academic institution in Political or Social Sciences, Development Studies, Human Rights, Communication, International Relations or Law, or relevant field; with four years’ experience in a relevant field.
- High School degree with six years of relevant professional experience
EXPERIENCE
- At least 3 years of work experience in the field of migration and/or protection
- Prior experience in working with mixed migrant population on protection and direct assistance
- Computer literacy and skills with specific proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Reliable, efficient, high level of professionalism, organizational skills and ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Good analytical skills, strong eye for detail and accuracy.
SKILLS
- Effective organizational skills and ability to establish priorities and plans, ability to work under pressure and cope with deadlines;
- Good knowledge of MS Office applications .e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Demonstrated problem solving attitude and skills;
- Good written and spoken communications skills, good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
