Duties and Responsibilities
This position is located in Air Operations and Movement Control Unit within the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, based in Tripoli. The Aviation and Movement Control Assistant (Individual Contractor) will report directly to the Air Operations and Movement Control Officers, and will be responsible for the following duties:
a) Receive and registers cargo movement requests for air/ground transportation.
b) Receive supplies from different sections, arrange for transportation and ensure follow up. Coordinate transportation of cargo by air and/or road with related units.
c) Ensure proper and safe storage of inbound and outbound cargo.
d) Ensure proper packing and marking of cargo items, including dangerous goods. Inform appropriate consignees on delivery of items.
e) Provide technical advice on cargo movements. Compile and maintain cargo statistics related to air/ground movements.
f) Coordinate work of outsources handlers at the airport.
g) Prepare cargo manifest and ensures its distribution to all concerned parties
h) Facilitate embarking/disembarking of passengers at the airport, and loading/unloading of cargo.
i) Ensure that loading of the aircraft is conducted in accordance with the published daily flight schedule and cargo manifest.
j) Check in passengers against passenger manifest, issue boarding passes and organize passengers transfer for aircraft boarding.
k) Perform duties as a flight monitor.
Qualifications/special skills
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Specialist diploma in aviation and/or logistics is required.
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in aviation or movement control, or related field is required.
Coordination of Air Operations with local authorities is required.
Driving license is required
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position fluency in English and Arabic is required.
