Main Purpose |
|
Providing psychosocial support according to MSF principles, standards and procedures in order to provide the most appropriate mental health support for migrants, patients and victims of violence, SGBV and torture. |
Accountabilities |
|
- Identify psychosocial needs of migrants through a social assessment. Respond to the patient’s social needs, according to the scope of the project, by giving direct social support (as HK, clothes, food,…) and/or refer to Protection, Medical team, other social actors, in order to actively contribute to the improvement of their quality of living.
- Contact Migrants/patients to follow up the evolution of their condition when needed (home visits, defaulter tracing)
- Keep records, statistic and files updated, reporting any psychosocial activity, in order to prioritize and develop appropriate programs or projects.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities |
|
MSF currently offers primary health care for migrants in different locations in and around Bani Walid for survivors of violence, SGBV and torture. In this context, MSF provides mental health and psychosocial support program with the focus on psychosocial activities. MSF will provide psychosocial support to all migrants and patients. The specific acountabilities in this context include:
Surveillance and Monitoring:
- Collect information on new arrivals in project locations (bio-data, location, current situation, future plans and reason for leaving BW).
- Collect information about living conditions of migrants, migration dynamics and risks faced by migrants in Beni Walid
- Monitor and document incident related to protection: abuses (physical, sexual), breach of human rights (lack of food, stealing, missing individual, etc.)
Organize and conduct psychosocial, recreational activities:
- Give information about MSF services and actively promote mental health and psychosocial activities
- Identify psychosocial needs of detainees and survivors of violence in project locations
- Organize psychosocial support activities adapted to population present in project locations
- Provide psychoeducation about mental health issues and collaborate with medical team for health and hygiene messages when relevant.
Practical support and referral
- Conduct sessions to assess non-MHPS needs of individuals and forward information accordingly
- Distribute of HK, recreational materials,clothes and support for maintaining family link
- Identify the most vulnerable individuals with protection concerns in locations where MSF conducts its activities
- Communicate with Protection team in Misrata for complex protection cases to develop case plan, and in case of immediate protection risk request for referral to Misrata
- Provide migrants, refugees and asylum seekers comprehensive information on options available for their journey and risks associated with each options
- Identifying patients with medical, psychiatric or protection needs and refer accordingly
Teamwork
- Ensures a good communication and sharing of the information about patients and context with MAM, Mental Health team, Protection team and Medical Referent in order to have an holistic management of the patients.
- Ensure an adequate and regular communication (weekly) with the Psychologist supervisor and Protection manager based in Misrata communicating the activities, difficulties, challenges, achievements, etc and be proactive proposing improvements
- Active participating in team meetings, briefings and case discussions
- Attend in a flexible way to other activities proposed by the line manager

Specific Requirements |

Education |
Desirable degree in social work. |
Experience |
Experience with MSF or other NGOs desirable.
Experience working with migrants and refugee desirable
|
Languages |
Essential: English and Arabic
Desirable: French and/or Tigrinya / Somali |

Knowledge |
- Desirable computer literacy (word, excel and internet),
- Strong communication, organizational and social skills,
- Capacity to work in a multidisciplinary team,
- Stress resistant, Initiative, creativity

Movement flexibility
