Job Description

Under the supervision of the Child Protection and GBV Specialist (CP/GBV), the Child Protection (CP) Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating and supervising a teams of CP case workers, social workers, and a psychologist. The CP supervisor will be in charge for all CP related activities with an emphasis on CP case management services for minors among the Non-Displaced, IDPs, refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in Misrata and surrounding areas.

General Management and Tasks:

  • Supervise and monitor the implementation of Child Protection Case Management, awareness sessions and workshops, and any other CP related activities.
  • Train and support CP Case Workers and Social Workers to identify and assist children and families with protection needs
  • Focal point for all CP related internal and external referrals; ensure timely and high-quality referrals to relevant teams in consideration of the indicated risk level and response time required at an inter-agency level in cooperation with the Protection and Outreach units, coordinate home visits for hosted cases under the CP case management when/if needed along with Outreach focal points.
  • Conduct weekly coordination and planning meetings, and regular CP case management meetings with CP staff
  • Ensure CP case managements is in line with IASC CP CM Guideline and CP CM Libya SoPs., CP cases have regular follow-ups, and all information are timely and properly filled and stored.
  • Ensure all CP unit and facilities used by beneficiaries have all needed equipment, tools, and materials, including PPE for Covid 19 prevention.
  • Effectively use and comply with all the tools, forms and SOPs related to Child Protection Case Management and Data Protection; Comply with applicable professional standards related to protection and humanitarian interventions.
  • Keep informed of changes in the contexts and notify the Field Coordinator and Specialist of any shifts or trends which could impact the protection environment and may require further assessments.
  • Ensure proper documentation and secure storage of any protection data collected (hard and soft copies).
  • Assist in performing other project related tasks as requested by the line manager/supervisor and supporting the team work.

Human Resource Management and training

  • Provide the CP caseworkers, social workers, and psychologist with technical guidance and direction for effective implementation and monitoring of the activities.
  • Provide capacity-building to the CP Case management staff, including through on-job training, field supervision and mentoring, and ensure that Case Workers are abiding by the case management guiding principles at all times. Run weekly case review meetings with case Workers and support in providing case management services to complex cases.
  • Being responsible for performance management of the CP caseworkers and psychologist in consultation with the Project Manager and the CP/ GBV Specialist to ensure proper training and initiation of capacity building activities for all Team members on reporting and documentation.
  • Prepare CP unit staff annual leave plan and follow up its execution with the HR officer.

Documentation and reporting:

  • Contribute to producing and updating workplans and supporting with drafting of reports as needed; ensure review and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data related to the Child Protection risks and needs of the communities
  • Updating relevant databases and tools and ensure all reporting commitments are respected, providing reliable information and high-quality inputs.
  • Draft/review regular reports received from staff members and submission to CP/ GBV Specialist.
  • Coordinate with the MEAL team to ensure all documents are properly filled in, checked for accuracy, and timely submitted.

Network and Representation:

  • Participate at CP Working Groups, team meetings and trainings.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders in order to ensure coordination, implementation of common standards in the field and consideration of protection issues.

Job Requirements

  1. Education: University degree in Social Studies, Psychology, or relevant subject required
    Experience: Relevant experience in field of work required (3 to 4 years). Experience working with International NGOs, or in child protection programming, is a strong asset.

  3. Expected to be key contributor to problem solving and a force multiplier in solution roll out
  4. Interpersonal skills: high level of communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills required
  5. Experienced in people management
