BACKGROUND

International Medical Corps works alongside International Medical Corps Worldwide, responding to humanitarian emergencies and communities afflicted by conflict, poverty and natural disaster in more than 20 countries around the world.

Job Summary:
The position holder serves as the link between the community members and the service providers offering IMC’s supported interventions. He/She provides appropriate key messages regarding health and nutrition as well as information regarding available services in health, MHPSS and GBV interventions.

Main Tasks:

1. Representation

  •  Represents International Medical Corps as the front-liner within his/her area of assignment among community members.
  •  Know the population (actual or estimated) of his/her area of responsibility, including new arrivals and departures.

2. Direct Service Provision

  •  Conduct home visits to vulnerable individuals, including pregnant and lactating women, children 5 years old and below, elderly persons and persons with disabilities.
  • Identify vulnerable individuals who may need health/medical assessment by a medical doctor as well as assessment from non-health service providers such as GBV or MHPSS case workers.
  • Follow up with vulnerable individuals or care givers with vulnerable individuals that have defaulted from scheduled follow up visits for ANC/PNC, immunizations or management of chronic conditions (non-communicable or communicable).
  •  Provide key health messages as per the MOH/WHO guidelines, especially on infection diseases, maternal, newborn and child health and non-communicable diseases.
  •  Refer community members to the appropriate service provider for any identified health or non-health issue for further
    assessment and potential management.

3. Community Engagement

  •  Conduct group awareness sessions according to planned topics, ensuring topics are relevant to the participating individuals.
  •  Conduct community health campaigns, in coordination with his/her supervisor and medical coordinator.

4. Record Keeping and Reporting

  •  Maintain a record of the home visits he/she has conducted to ensure appropriate and timely follow up.
  •  Submit weekly reports of his/her activities as per weekly reporting template.

5. Training and Professional Development

  •  Actively participate in relevant trainings and mentoring sessions organized or sponsored by International Medical
    Corps.

6. Monitoring and Evaluation

  •  Ensure that submitted data reports are verifiable through his/her records and beneficiary feedback.

7. Project Development and Improvement

  •  Call the attention of his/her supervisor to gaps, issues and challenges which needs to be addressed under the ongoing project.
  • Provide insights and recommendations which may improve services and can be included in future interventions.

8. Other Duties

  • Any other duty deemed necessary for the fulfillment of program objectives as discussed with supervisor.
  •  Ensure application and compliance of security protocols and policies, including the provision of daily updates to security focal point and supervisor.
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

Qualifications and Skills:

-At least high school graduate, and university degree is preferable.
-Ability to maintain effective working relationships with community and municipal representatives.
-High integrity.
-Partnering and engaging with stakeholders.
-Networking and influencing skills.
-Highly reliable and dependable
-Native Arabic speaker essential, fluency in spoken and written English is desirable.
-Has previous volunteering experience.
-Demonstrates a high degree of self-motivation.
-Has a good established network in targeted the community.
-Has good communication skills and the capacity to facilitate presentations, meetings, and discussions concerning health and social issues.
-Able to provide assistance to all individuals and nationalities.
-Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
-Able to provide feedback/reports regarding work-related activities.
-Capacity to work as member of a team.
-Partnering and engaging with community stakeholders.
-Community Facilitation skills.

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse

Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.
Any other duties that may be assigned from time by supervisors.

As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards. Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.
