Job Overview
Key responsibilities:
S/he will be responsible, under the supervision of the center manager, for planning, designing, and conducting computer classes for children attending Bayti center, as well as for the supervisory and management of the library within the center.
Responsibilities/duties:
- Under the supervision of the center manager, s/he will guarantee the implementation of the planned classes for children;
- Designs and teaches various computer courses. Creates course outlines and writes instruction and review handouts for each of the different course.
- Prepares the room and the computers for use before each class; attends to the proper shut-down of computers after classes.
- Assures that the computer equipment is properly used.
- Trains staff and volunteer facilitators on specific needed computer topics.
- Help library patrons conduct research and find the information they need.
- Organize library materials so they are easy to find, and maintain collections
- Plan programs for different audiences, such as storytelling for young children
- Develop and index databases of library materials
- Choose new books, audio books, videos, and other materials for the library
- In the framework of the Protection Monitoring, S/he will be responsible for identifying and detecting the presence of emerging new needs/protection risks and trends among the migrants, IDPs, refugees and host community;
- S/he will perform any other tasks requested by the Protection Programme Manager and/or by the Supervisor in the framework of the activities foreseen by INTERSOS program in Libya.
Other responsibilities:
- Uphold the INTERSOS Code of Conduct and policies;
- Ensure the respect of the core humanitarian principles: neutrality, impartiality, independence and humanity and the respect of the “do no harm” principle of humanitarian action.
- Strictly follow the internal procedures and guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in computer science, education, or any related field;
- Ideally at least 2 years of professional experience as a teacher;
- Extensive field experience working with children with different ages;
- Proven experience in dealing with community members, local leaders and other stakeholders;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage efficiently multiple priorities, deadlines and tasks with attention to details;
- Ability to communicate effectively with variety of people, and express oneself in a clear and concise way;
- Strong communication and reporting skills;
- Excellent Arabic spoken and written language skills. Ability to communicate and write in English is mandatory;
- Good command of MS Office package would be an asset;
- Excellent team working skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment and under pressure is Necessary;
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills;
- Ability to work under high pressure;
- Capable to attend the work in the Center and to travel around in case of Outreach activities.
