Country Profile :
ACTED has been operating in Libya since 2011, currently delivering assistance from its field level offices in Tripoli, Benghazi,Derna and Sebha with support from 12 international and 60 national staff. ACTED’s ongoing programming aims to respond to the country’s most pressing emergency needs whilst building the resilience of communities through support to civil society and local governance. This includes an unconditional multi-purpose cash program, protection monitoring, helpline, and referral services, and quick impact projects (QIPs). Furthermore, ACTED is offering capacity building, grants, and networking opportunities to civil society and local governance actors under its Civil Initiatives Libya (CIL) program.

Assignment
The Curriculum Officer will work closely with the Education Specialist, the Education Assistant and the Project Officer to support the design of the content of the NFE (non-formal education) learning material in Benghazi, Derna and in the South.
The curriculum officer will support school teachers by developing and improving the instructional material for catch-up and remedial classes. They may also give constructive feedback on how teachers are implementing those materials and how effective the materials are, in collaboration with the Education Assistant, that will supervise teachers NFE activities on an ongoing basis.
The Curriculum Officer will also liaise with teachers in the school in order to produce learning material adapted to children level.
1.Duties and Responsibilities
1.1.Technical support to the education activities

- Support the teachers in preparing the work plan and time schedules for implementing activities and achieving targets, in collaboration with the PO;
- Liaise for the development of relevant learning material.
- Communicate with Teachers and ensure that learning material is elaborated by ACTED curriculum officer with teachers inputs.
1.2.Support the implementation of non-formal education activities in Benghazi

- Plan and timely distribute scholastic materials to the target schools.
- Organize and lead the mobilization and sensitization campaigns of the target communities.
- Work with the teachers to ensure students enrollment and effective learning of the students to the respective education programme in accordance with ACTED standards and criteria.
- Coach teachers during peer to peer group support
- Ensure that education program is implemented in close coordination with MOE and other actors of education projects.
- Ensure strict compliance with ACTED policies, procedures and relevant donor regulations.
- Ensure visibility of ACTED and other donors in the course of the implementation.
- Supervise regularly the teaching and the learning process in all supported schools.
- Document and share constraints, challenges, gaps, needs, best practice and lessons learnt.
- Ensure quality and relevant data is collected as required using ACTED M&E procedures and tools.
- Identify operational/technical problems arising during the implementation of the project activities and report it to the project officer.
1.3.Reporting & Other

- To ensure timely weekly and monthly reports per activity for project management.
- Perform other tasks as requested.
- Set-up a good dialogue with the teachers on the component of the curriculum that must be covered by the material.
- Stay informed of trends in instructional methods and educational technology.
- Assist teachers in incorporating new technology into their lessons and assist them in ensuring education continuity in case of an education disruption.
- Ask for teachers feedback on the material and adapt the content if needed based on individual observation and student feedback.
2.Key Performance Indicators
- Number of education activities conducted successfully, in compliance with contractual targets.
- Number of periodic reports submitted to the PO.
- Number of children having received ACTED learning material.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor degree required. Education background and education experience
- At least 1 years of field experience in humanitarian work. Education and pedagogy skills required.
- Familiarity with the aid system, and ability to understand donor and governmental requirement is preferred
- Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people;
- Ability to travel and work in difficult conditions and under pressure;
- Highly proficient in written and spoken Arabic, English preferable;
- Excellent design skills, ability to create child friendly content;
- Team-player and ability to work independently;
- Ability to manage time effectively and priorities work to meet deadlines;
- Demonstrate passion and commitment for changing people’s lives;
- Must be creative, innovative;
- Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills;
