Background
The Libya Transition Initiative (LTI) 3 aims to support credible, responsive, and participatory governance at local and national levels. LTI 3 supports Libyan efforts to strengthen the foundations for a sustainable peace in Libya by engaging with national ministries, municipal councils, sub-municipal councils, civil society organizations, youth, media outlets, and other Libyan partners to increase civic engagement and strengthen political processes. LTI 3 works to implement quick-impact projects around Libya.
Purpose
The Grants Assistant (GA) plays a support role in ensuring that program activities are implemented rapidly and effectively.
Reporting
The Grants Assistant reports to the Grants Specialist.
Location
LTI 3 is recruiting for a grant assistant based in Benghazi, Libya.
Tasks
- Establish activity files in electronic shared site.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation required
- During activity implementation, assist the grants specialist with preparation of payment requests.
- Assist the grants specialist to monitor activity expenditures by updating activity budget trackers.
- Ensure that grants and activities are closed out within required time frames.
- Understand the necessary procedures, including documentation compliance requirements, at all stages of the activity cycle.
- Perform other duties as required by the regional program manager or his/her designee.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational, management, and administrative skills.
- Demonstrated experience in activity management with a focus on ensuring that procurement, finance, logistics, and programmatic aspects are being implemented on-time and in accordance with the specifications of the approved activity.
- Experience with NGOs and/or community-based organizations and an up-to-date understanding and knowledge of political and social conditions in Libya is preferred.
- Ability/willingness to travel throughout the country periodically.
- Experience managing activities and/or contracts for international organizations is highly desired.
- Experience with cash-based activities is preferred.
- Ability to work in a professional and cordial manner with fellow staff members, visitors, partner institutions including international and local NGOs, governmental entities, support organizations, and the general public.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize multiple work assignments in an extremely fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and exercise good, professional judgment that reflects positively on the image of the organization and communicates the established program message.
- Possess creativity and analytical capacity to manage compliance issues and assist other staff in ensuring the implementation of activities.
- Strong analytical ability and knowledge of project objectives.
- Ability to effectively use computer software, including MS Word and Excel.
- Fluency in both Arabic and English is required.
