BACKGROUND

The Libya Local Governance and Civil Society ( LGCS ) / Taqarib Project will enhance the ability of People with Disabilities (PWDs) to effectively address climate change, a key focus is placed on providing them with access to comprehensive information regarding climate change and its impacts. This information empowers PWDs to actively participate in decision-making processes related to climate change using Inclusive Climate Resilience Workshops to educate and engage PWD & Disabled Persons Organizations (DPOs) and municipal decision-makers about the specific challenges and needs of Persons with Disabilities PWDs in the face of climate change.

 

OBJECTIVES Below are the three main objectives of the training:

  1. workshop will provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and information about climate science, including the causes and impacts of climate change.
  1. workshop seeks to empower people with disabilities to actively engage in discussions and decision-making processes related to climate change. By providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills, enabling participants to contribute to shaping adaptation and mitigation strategies in the future.
  1. workshop aims to explore adaptation strategies that are inclusive and take into consideration the specific needs and challenges faced by people with disabilities that will equip attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop an effective advocacy plan that promotes inclusivity and supports individuals with disabilities

Overall, the workshop aims to provide accessible climate science education, empower people with disabilities to participate in climate change discussions, promote inclusive adaptation and mitigation strategies, and facilitate collaboration among participants.

TASKS (PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS)

 

  1. Produce workshop and presentation material, and Agenda (PDF/PPT’S) using Taqarib format.
  2. Prepare pre and post-workshop questionnaire.
  3. Conduct a 3-day workshop for 3 municipalities raising climate change education and adaptation and mitigation strategies specifically for PWD and support groups in designing advocacy plan promoting People with disability rights .
  1. Submit a final report on the training including:
  • Breakdown of training days
  • Note on attendance.
  • Pre and post-analysis
  • Outcome of training
  • Photos

 

DELIVERABLES

 

 Deliverable
1-     Agenda, training, and presentation materials –

 

2-     Pre and post training questionnaire
3-     3-days training for 3 sessions at Sabha city (for a total of 9 days)  .

 

The participants will be as follows: –

1-     10 persons for 1st training from Wadi Ettba Municipality

2-     10 persons for 2nd training from Murzeq Municipality

3-     10 persons for the third training from Wadi Albawaness Municipality

 

4-     Final report

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 35 years of progressive professional experience working in the field of raising awareness and capacity preferably for PWD.
  • Bachelor degree in social services or equivalent and a certification that proves the trainer’s competency and ability to deliver effective and inclusive training to PWDs.
  • Local or international training experience is highly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of climate change.
  • Understanding the local context of climate change.
  • Ability to travel to Sabha.
