Job Overview

A Paramedic, or Ambulance Assistant, is responsible for emergency medical situations to provide a range of care to patients. Their duties include assessing the patient and their environment, administering procedures like CPR and stabilizing patients for transport to the hospital if needed. Dealing with life threatening conditions to minor illnesses and injuries.

Duties and Responsibilities

Upon arrival:

• The Paramedic is in charge of checking the First Aid and Trauma bag for all necessities at the beginning of each shift and make sure that everything is provided.
• The Paramedic will make sure that all Coronavirus prevention materials are stocked (Sanitizer, Masks, Thermometer).
• Before each mission the Paramedic will check all emergency routes to the nearest medical facilities in case of any urgent medical attention needed by any persons on missions.

Duties During the shift:

1. The Paramedic is in charge of checking and recording the temperature of mission staff and check Driver’s blood pressure.
2. The Paramedic is tasked with diagnosing if any of the staff members are seriously ill after any complaints.
3. The Paramedic should inquire with and receive information regarding the medical health of all staff that might need extra medical assistance.
4. The Paramedic will be tasked with recording the data of any visitors that might become ill (Name, Surname, Position, Blood Type, Probable Diagnosis, medication needed etc.).
5. Provision of medical support to staff and other designated occupants of the premises or visitors.
6. Respond to emergencies and provide primary care to patients.
7. Assist and advise the Head of Delegation and the designated security personnel in the Delegation on all medical/welfare matters.
8. Co-ordinate and monitor all elements of the medical evacuation chain in case of disease or injury of the staff member in close cooperation with all involved health care providers.
9. Provide the necessary medical inputs for Clients and security staff, especially with regards to operational planning, decision making processes and resulting orders and documents (e.g.: extraction capabilities, medical support, assessment of medical facilities).
10. Co-ordinate and perform Medical Briefings and Basic Life support training to all staff.Monitor the epidemiological and overall medical situation in the region, promote and implement preventive medical and occupational health measures including hygiene and recommendations for immunizations.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in medicine and surgery.
• Having current first aid certificates is also useful as it will show your interest in the work.
• Proven working experience as a paramedic less than one
• Usually be expected to have some relevant healthcare or first aid experience, which may include:
• Experience in life-saving techniques.
• Experience as an emergency care.
• Knowledge of medical procedures, terminology, and medications.
• Ability to stay calm and make the right decisions in adverse conditions
• Adaptable with a great deal of stamina.
• Excellent working knowledge of medical equipment and devices.
• Integrity and compassion towards human pain.
• Commitment to working hours.
• Spoken and written English fluency.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with patients,
• The ability to work autonomously.
• Oral, written and listening communication skills for reporting conditions.
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
• Good general fitness to cope with lifting patients and equipment.
• Good appearance.

Working hours

You usually operate 12 hours a day so you will need to work shifts which can be made up of mornings and nights, weekends, and public holidays.

You may be required for additional stand-by and on-call duties.
