JOB SUMMARY
The Logistics Officer holds a crucial role as the intermediary between the main office in Tripoli and the operations in East Libya. He / She is responsible for overseeing and coordinating logistics, small procurements, warehousing, and transportation. activities in the area. The officer acts as the primary point of contact, ensuring effective communication and collaboration between the two locations. He / she will facilitate small procurements by sourcing suppliers, obtaining quotes, and managing the purchase process.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the primary point of contact and facilitate effective communication between the main office in Tripoli and the operations in East Libya.
- Coordinate and oversee logistics operations, including small procurements, warehousing, and transportation activities in the region.
- Source suppliers, obtain quotes, and manage the procurement process for necessary materials and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and monitor stock levels to ensure optimal supply availability in both locations.
- Coordinate the receipt, inspection, and proper storage of incoming goods and materials.
- Organize and package outgoing shipments, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
- Liaise with carriers and transportation providers to schedule pickups, deliveries, and transportation logistics.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any issues or delays.
- Generate reports and analyze data related to inventory levels, procurement activities, and transportation performance.
- Implement and maintain effective warehouse management systems (WMS) to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize logistics processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions.
- Conduct regular audits to reconcile physical stock with electronic records and address any discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in both the main office and the operations in East Libya.
- Assist in negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers and carriers to optimize cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor market trends, industry regulations, and best practices in logistics and supply chain management.
- Coordinate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate invoicing, payment processing, and budget management.
- Provide training and guidance to staff members involved in logistics activities.
- Act as a problem solver, addressing logistics-related issues and finding effective solutions to ensure smooth operations
between the main office and the operations in East Libya.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Preferably Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field – logistics, supply chain, engineering, finance …etc.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a humanitarian environment.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to integrate and work well within a multi-ethnic and multicultural team
- Computer Literacy:
- Good use of MS pack
