The ICRC Delegation in Libya has a vacancy for:
Mechanic
The position will be based in Benghazi Sub Delegation
Main Responsibilities:
- Carries out repairs on trucks, light vehicles, generators, forklifts and other ICRC mechanical equipment and takes part in welding, body repairs and painting as required.
- Carries out preventative maintenance on ICRC vehicles, pumps and generators, to internal and/or the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Ensures that all service and repair forms are correctly filled out and forwarded for all jobs carried out.
- Ensures that spare parts and consumables stocks are kept at the agreed levels; takes part in placing orders for spare parts and equipment as required.
- Ensures that technical and personal security standards are followed.
- Conduct the necessary diagnostic by the scan tool when needed.
- Assists with fueling and cleaning vehicles where required.
- Actively assists in keeping inventory for the workshop and its stores as required.
- Supervises, trains and coaches the Mechanic’s Helper.
- Assist the head of mechanic for the training program on new technology.
- Keep himself aware about the last technology update
- Ensure that waste management procedures are followed according to the category of the parts.
- Ensure to apply the workshop safety regulation during the working hours.
Required background, skills and experience:
- Technical school degree or equivalent experience.
- Good oral skills and basic reading and writing skills in English.
- Good computer skills
- Driving license B.
- Driving license C and D an asset.
- At least 3 years overall professional experience in a related field
- Knowledge of welding and electricity.
- Experience working with generators.
- Very good knowledge of the local area and integration into a professional network.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions with limited supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work within a team and to establish effective working relationships both internally and externally
- Sense of responsibility and initiative
- Good negotiation and communication skills
- Management Skills
- Interest for humanitarian activities (especially ICRC’s).
