Overview of position | Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
The scope of work of IOM in Libya, particularly focusing on health services to migrants, is extensive and multifaceted. IOM Libya’s health services are part of its broader humanitarian mandate to support migrants, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and vulnerable host communities. The health services include regular visits by mobile health teams to priority locations, providing primary healthcare services, referrals for lifesaving interventions, and specialized care in hospitals. Additionally, IOM offers health services to migrants in detention centers, at disembarkation points, and in urban settings. Under the overall guidance of the Migration Health Coordinator and direct supervision of the Migration Health Officer and the Field Health Coordinator, the incumbent with provide the necessary healthcare services to migrants in alternative to detention centers (ATD) in Libya to address their immediate health needs, support their overall well-being, and uphold their basic human rights. The activities will be closely coordinated with the IOM Libya Protection Unit. |
