CONTEXT

HI has been operational continuously in Libya since 2011, and up until the end of 2014 delivered a large-scale Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) program from bases in Tripoli, Misrata and Sirte. In the last three years, HI has delivered health and protection services including physical therapy, provision of assistive devices and mobility equipment and psychosocial support to over 5,000 persons directly impacted by the ongoing crisis, as well as targeting health and rehabilitation centers in Tripoli and Misrata with technical capacity development and donations of much needed and otherwise depleted equipment. In 2020, HI will continue to provide emergency health and protection support to the most vulnerable persons in Libya, in Tripoli, Benghazi and Misrata. In addition of its actual projects, HI is also implementing a three year project entitled “Action for Mental Health Assistance in Libya” (AMAL), as part of wider initiatives to improve the access and quality of health care services in Libya. The activities will take place in Tripoli, Benghazi and Misrata. In addition to that HI as also starting a new project to support Civil Society Organizations to provide MHPSS services.
We are looking for a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Technical Supervisor for our project. The main tasks for this position will be:
- Technically supervise the psychosocial workers
- Provide continuous training to the psychosocial workers
- Liaise with services providers to refer people in need of specialized care
- Liaise and coordinate with local stakeholders within the scope of HIs current project and train them in the provision of appropriate mental health and psychosocial support to vulnerable persons including persons with physical and mental disabilities.
- To professionally represent Handicap International (HI) at all times, and be involved in the dissemination of information about HI activities in Libya to appropriate persons including beneficiaries, community leaders, other organizations and officials as required.
- Provide regular reports on activities in English
REQUIREMENTS
- Graduated students in psychology
- Strong experience in mental health and psychosocial support
- Experience in clinical supervision
- Very good interpersonal and communication skills including with people with mental health disorders
- Good organization skills
- Fluent in Arabic as well as English
- Good writing and reporting skills
- Available from October onwards
