Main Purpose of the position
Under the supervision of the Medical Coordinator and in collaboration with the other members of the medical team is required to evaluate, plan, implement and supervise the nursing care and maternal and child health within the health facilities contributing to the efficient management of the various services.
The main duties and responsibilities are:
Together with the Emergency Medical Team, Matron/Midwife will work one week, on a rotational basis, in each of the target facilities, providing on-the-job training to the staff present.
The on the job training sessions, which means “learning working together” with the staff of the health facilities, will be structured according to the training needs identified during the Health facilities assessment and in line with the MOH guidelines, under the supervision of the Medical Coordinator.
Ensure that patients are cared for in a clean and safe environment, taking corrective action if standards are not maintained.
Create and implement nosocomial infection prevention guidelines and control agenda and ensure best practices are implemented.
Ensure that patient services meet minimum quality standards and accordingly support the department organization.
In close collaboration with the medical team, ensure that staff understand and adhere to the clinical protocols and guidelines they work with.
Oversee effective health care services in all departments (ANC, Maternity, OPD, IPD, VCT/PMCT, Laboratory, Operating Room
In close coordination with the medical team, periodically update the list of HF assets and report on procurement priorities in a timely manner according to the project budget
Oversee medication and drugs inventory and support the Health Facility Pharmacist to ensure proper medication administration, distribution and report any stock shortages in a timely manner.
In close collaboration with the Medical Team, oversee service records and support nurses in compiling records for data collection and monthly and quarterly weekly reports on service performance.
Discuss issues of concern with the Medical Team to ensure that feasible corrective measures are identified and implemented in a timely manner.
Write monthly reports on project activities according to the organization’s template.
