Position’s Description:
The overall role of the MTT Operator is to conduct safe, methodical, and efficient clearance tasks under the close supervision of the Team Leader. In order to be accepted for the position, candidates must attend the relevant specific to work training provided by DDG and score above cut-off marks.
Responsibilities and duties:
The MTT Operator’s responsibilities and duties are listed below and may be revised, as necessary.
The MTT Operator must:
• Accept responsibility for his/her own safety and act in a disciplined way at all times at a task site;
• Accept responsibility for the safety of others around him/her;
• Ensure that his/her tools and equipment is clean and in working order and all items are present;
• Work to procedures as documented in the DDG SOPs;
• Work hard to achieve team efficiency;
• Remove mobile phones and all metal and jewelry before arrival at the task site;
• Use the correct marking system as documented in the SOPs;
• Follow the instructions of the Team Leader;
• Report all safety concerns immediately to his/her Team Leader;
• Ensure that his/her PPE is in good condition and is regularly cleaned and checked for faults; and
• Attend and pass all training requirements as directed by the DDG Operations Manager.
MTT Operator duties:
The duties are specified in the relevant DDG SOPs and include:
• All work associated with the establishment and maintenance of safe areas at a task site;
• All work associated with the marking and closure of the task site;
• All work associated with the securing of the area for the destruction of ERW;
• Battle Area Clearance in an approved manner as directed by the Team Leader;
• All duties associated with the maintenance of clearance equipment;
• At all times behaving in a manner that promotes pride in the organization and credit to his team.
The MTT Operator reports to his Team Leader. When required, he must report in writing.
Essential qualifications and skills:
• Proven ability to follow instructions.
• DDG Libya BAC Course
Personal Specification / Desirable Experience / Qualities:
• Minimum education – secondary school.
• Physically fit and willing to engage in physically-demanding manual labour.
• Excellent discipline.
General Regulations:
• The employee shall follow DRC/DDG instructions on safety, confidentiality and ethical guidelines, including the Code of Conduct and the Humanitarian Accountability Framework.
• Employee should not engage in any other paid activity for any other agency during the DRC/DDG contract period without Country Director’s authorization.
• Employee should not engage in any activity that could harm DRC/DDG or the implementation of any project during the DRC/DDG contract period.
• Employee should not give interviews to the media or publish project-related photos or other material without Country Director’s authorization.
• Employee shall return all borrowed equipment for the project to DRC/DDG after the end of the contract period or upon the Country Director’s request.
