UNICEF Libya produces a variety of content that requires the services of a consultant to provide graphic design and ongoing user interface support for a number of digital and offline projects for the UNICEF Libya Country Office team.
Under the direct supervision of the Advocacy and Communication Officer, national consultant (graphic designer) will conceptualize, develop and digitise country office’s files to an online platform for internal and external dissemination

How can you make a difference?

Specific Tasks:
▪ Provide a creative concept containing creative ideas, as well as advice on how the design concept best serves the content and type of material being produced.
▪ Produce a realistic production deadline that can be followed from concept to final product development.
▪ Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print, electronic, web-based and design and layout of reports and other products.
▪ Layout and design of reports and other communication materials for printing and electronic distribution.
▪ Create different illustrative materials such as animation, presentations and design of packaging.
▪ Produce final version ready to be formatted and uploaded for multiple platforms including print, website and social media.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A university degree in Graphic Design, Art Design, Visual Designs or related disciplines.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in Graphic Design.
  • A certificate in design and two additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong graphic design skills particularly in layout, presentations, branding and visualization of systems and complex information and structures
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products, such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of the institutions of the UN system; ability to work in an international environment.
  •  Excellent command and knowledge of PowerPoint and other Office platforms and Visual design sensibility that is clean, simple and sharp.
  • Proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines and with flexible attitude and ability to work independently.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a multicultural team and to exercise good judgment under pressure.
  • Relevant work experience with UN agencies and/or INGOs. Familiarity with UNICEF branding is an asset.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
