Job Summary:
The position holder is responsible for offering nursing and midwifery services as part of the mobile medical team as well as assisting the medical doctor in mentoring his/her peers in IMC-supported health facilities when appropriate. He/ She reports directly to the medical doctor.
Main Tasks:
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings as scheduled
- Contribute to the weekly reports reflecting relevant information regarding patients and areas of assignment such as ongoing activities he/she is responsible for
- Collaborate with his/her supervisor to facilitate and deliver theoretical and practical training relevant to the services provided through the medical mobile team in accordance with IMC/MOH/WHO standards including infection prevention and control and case management of mild to moderate cases for COVID-19 disease when requested
- Provide supportive supervision through mentoring to his/her peers to ensure optimal care for patients accessing or utilizing services offered by the mobile medical unit
- Actively participate in training provided relevant to his/her profession and job responsibility
- Patient Care
- Provide awareness-raising including donning of face masks to beneficiaries at the waiting area
- Provide nursing care in collaboration with the other clinical staff, as appropriate
- In consultation with the medical doctor, administer initial management for patients needing immediate attention
- Provide appropriate patient education including the provision of information relevant to patients’ condition in consultation with the medical doctor
- Maintain patient records, ensuring privacy and confidentiality
- Community Engagement
- Conduct group awareness sessions to deliver key messages which include but are not limited to safe pregnancy, breastfeeding, safety measures to avoid COVID-19 disease. The position holder is expected to ensure that minimum safety measures are adhered to such as wearing face masks, limited participants to facilitate physical distancing, and availability of hand sanitizers are in place.
- Conduct home visits, especially to high-risk and vulnerable individuals in consultation with his/her supervisor and approved by the medical coordinator.
- Follow up with pregnant and lactating women especially those who may have failed to come for antenatal and postnatal consultations
- Contribute to collecting and recording data gathered for services rendered
- Regularly inspect and review the stock inventory of materials used
- Request for medical commodities that are low on stock, in consultation with his/her supervisor
- Assist in maintaining updated stock reports for medical commodities, including personal protective equipment and cleaning/disinfection supplies as well as forecasting for these needs
- Direct initial assessment and triage for incoming beneficiaries at the health facility or other service delivery locations including proper screening of beneficiaries for COVID-19 disease
- Provide oversight for infection prevention and control measures within the supported health facility, in consultation to his/her supervisor and the health facility manager
- Call the attention of his/her supervisor to gaps, issues, and challenges which needs to be addressed under the ongoing project
- Provide insights and recommendations which may improve services and can be included in future interventions
- Provide inputs to his/her supervisor for activity planning
- Any other duty deemed necessary for the fulfillment of program objectives as discussed with the supervisor
- Ensure application and compliance of security protocols and policies, including the provision of daily updates to security focal point and supervisor
Qualifications and Skills:
- Registered nurse or midwife, experience in providing care at the primary health care level required (please require copies of qualifications)
- Female candidates preferred, but not required
- 4 to 5 years clinical experience preferred
- Can work independently with minimal supervision required
- Experience in mentoring and facilitating learning of other clinical staff is desirable
- Team player a must
- Strong organizational and communication skills required
- Native Arabic speaker essential, fluency in spoken and written English preferred but not essential
- Familiarity with the MOH health care system essential
