Main Purpose |
Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning nursing and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies, protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action as nursing focal point for TB activities. |
Accountabilities |
• Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing, i.e. perform as a nurse, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.
• Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures, and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her specialty. • Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance, define and ensure the needs for training of staff. Guarantee the needs of human resources are met and to maintain a high standards of quality. • Carry out and/or supervise the (decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.) in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness. • Ensuring that all staff are using medical devices that they are qualified and trained to use. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service. • Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking. • Collaborate and effectively information share within interdisciplinary team (Medical, Mental Health and Protection) • Give feedback/ reports to NAM |
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities |
In collaboration of N.A.M:
· Perform tasks associated to his/her speciality, i.e. perform as a nurse, within OPD and TB unit when required. · Supervise the quality of nursing care in the OPD and TB unit and ensure strict implementation and adherence to MSF protocols; · Supervise the nursing team, nurse aids and hygienists · Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures and supervise his/her team to follow the same standards; · Ensure good communication and collaboration within his/her team and with the other teams working in the OPD/TB unit, including medical doctors, psychologist, social workers, watchmen, drivers, etc. · Ensure a proper patient flow in the OPD/TB unit and report any issues to the NAM; including ensuring admission, discharge and transfer documents are correctly completed · Give feedback and reports to the NAM and take part in the implementation of new strategies regarding the activities in the TB unit and OPD · Organize the activities of his/her team including rosters, week’s schedule, leave planning, etc; for validation by NAM · With the NAM, evaluate the performance of his/her team, and define and ensure the needs for training of staff; · In collaboration with the NAM and the Pharmacy Supervisor, supervise the decentralized pharmacy in his/her clinic(s) including orders, reception and storage; · Follow needs for equipment, material and maintenance and prepare the necessary orders for validation; · Collaborate with the medical doctors in the clinics, sterilization team, social workers and health promoters, physiotherapists, etc. · Ensure ethical and non judgmental approach towards the beneficiaries.

Requirements | |
Education | Speciality (nurse or anesthetist) diploma essential. |
Experience | Essential 2 years of previous experience. Having worked in MSF or other NGO’s and in developing countries is desirable. |
Languages | Good knowledge of English and Arabic both spoken and written is essential. |
Knowledge | Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet) |
