PROTECTION COUNSELOR
Fixed Term contract (1 month renewable, starting 1st January)
Main Purpose
The protection counsellor is responsible for the provision of protection-related support to refugees and migrants in the context of MSF outreach medical activities.
Main Accountabilities
– Work closely with interdisciplinary team (Medical, Mental Health) to ensure that needs of patients are holistically met.
– Identify protection needs and vulnerabilities through individual protection assessments. – Provide counselling and respond to the beneficiary’s protection needs – Undertake comprehensive case management process – Monitor and regularly update information on new arrivals, protection environment and risks, and other protection-related information via project-level reporting tools.

Requirements
Education | A Bachelor’s degree in social work, law, or an LLM is preferred, but other Masters’ degrees or equivalent experience in a related field are also acceptable |
Experience | Two-years’ experience working in a migration context, preferably with an NGO.

Languages | Fluency in English and Arabic. French or other language spoken by migrant communities in Libya is an asset. |
Knowledge | Essential computer literacy (word, excel, internet)
Good working knowledge on MS Office |
Competencies | · Ability to work under stress and to maintain calm under challenging circumstances
· Conscientious and meticulous record-keeping and report writing · A positive attitude and sensitive manner when dealing with beneficiaries, including a range of interviewing skills for dealing with challenging scenarios |
