Job Description
The Protection Monitoring Officer, will work into the framework of a program that intends to increase the access to protection space and the ability to make informed decisions on further migration or durable solutions for migrants, refugees and vulnerable communities in the Western Libya with a specific intervention in the detention centers managed by the DCIM and in the urban communities.
Specific tasks and responsibilities
- Planning and conducting the protection monitoring activities in the targeted detention centers and urban areas in order to gather data and assess the vulnerability of migrants and refugees;
- Ensuring transparent, accurate and timely collection of data under the guidance of the Protection Monitoring Team Leader;
- Conducting hygiene kits/NFIs distribution in the detention centers and emergency support in the urban areas;
- Conducting Psychological First Aid (PFA) and Psychosocial Support in coordination with Case Workers and under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader;
- Contributing to map all stakeholders and services available in the area of intervention to ensure coordination and proper external referrals;
- Organizing awareness sessions with beneficiaries on protection principles and related risks, and disseminate information on services available;
- Liaise with Case Worker for referring cases in need of individualized sessions and psychosocial support
- Maintaining documentation of the protection monitoring activities and assisting in tracking data related to beneficiaries, compiling and reporting the data;
- Filling existing data collection tools and working on the improvement of the existing ones in collaboration with the relevant team;
- Establishing and maintaining networks with Local and INGOs field staff conducting similar activities and/or covering the same communities, as well as the detention center managers and guards;
- Ensuring a daily and weekly update and report to the Protection Monitoring Team Leader on the monitoring activities;
- Represent CESVI in a professional manner in meetings and ensure good cooperation with local partners and other relevant actors;
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams, trainings and meetings
- Assist in performing other tasks as requested by the Protection Team Leader/Project Manager.
Responsible to: Line Management (Hierarchically and functionally) to the Protection Team Leader
Duty station: Misrata and surroundings, including visits to other sites in Western Libya, if security allows.
Contract Duration: 3 months (with possible renewal after evaluation)
Job Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in social science, humanitarian affairs or other related field.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience preferable working with NGOs and with vulnerable communities in protection programs.
- Demonstrated understanding of protection and ethical principles in humanitarian programming.
- Good communication skills
- Preferable ability to conduct training and awareness campaign
- Proficiency in English (read, write and communicate) and Arabic
