Job Description

Under the supervision of the Child Protection and GBV Specialist (CP/GBV), the Protection Supervisor will have the overall responsibility of leading, coordinating and implementing Cesvi protection activities among the Non-Displaced, IDPs, refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in Misrata and surrounding areas.

Specific tasks and responsibilities:

  • Supervise and monitor the implementation of Protection activities at the Cesvi Community Centre and Urban areas of Misrata through regular visits to the project site(s) (provided security situation will allow it),
  • Coordinate with other agencies/NGOs/government bodies/donors to ensure coordination, implementation of minimum standards in the field and identification of protection concerns and gaps in assistance programs
  • Provide technical guidance and direction for effective planning and high-quality implementation of agreed protection activities
  • Contribute to producing and updating workplans and supporting with drafting of protection reports as needed; ensure review and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data related to the Protection needs of the communities
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders as well with Field Coordinator to create a shared plan for addressing the identified psychosocial needs.
  • Organize Protection Monitoring activities, such as Focus Group Discussions and Key Informant Interviews;
  • Ensure maintenance of an effective internal referral system in coordination with the Case Management Supervisor, Child Protection Supervisor, Outreach Supervisor
  • Support the capacity building of Cesvi staff (including Community Mobilizers) as well as external actors in protection principles and minimum standards through provision of trainings
  • Represent Cesvi in a professional manner in meetings and ensure good cooperation with local partners and other relevant actors;
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and trainings related to protection and related humanitarian topics such as, GBV, MHPSS, and Cash
  • Assist in performing other project related tasks as requested by the line manager/supervisor and supporting the team work.
  • Effectively use and comply with all the tools, forms and SOPs related to Protection Monitoring and Data Protection; Comply with applicable professional standards related to protection and humanitarian interventions.
  • Keep informed of changes in the contexts and notify the Field Coordinator and Specialist of any shifts or trends which could impact the protection environment and may require further assessments.
  • Ensure proper documentation and secure storage of any protection data collected (hard and soft copies).
  • Report on daily and weekly base to Filed Coordinator and Project Manager
  • Oversee Protection Monitoring Officers, with responsibility of workplan setting, conduction of performance evaluation where requested from Human Resources, approve annual leave planning and authorize emergency and sick leaves.

Reporting to: (Hierarchically and functionally) to the CP and GBV Specialist, or in his/her absence to the Project Manager

Job Requirements

  1. Education: University degree in Social Studies, Psychology, or relevant subject required
    Experience: Relevant experience in field of work required (3 to 4 years). Experience working with International NGOs, or in child protection programming, is a strong asset.

  2. Critical and conceptual thinking
  3. Expected to be key contributor to problem solving and a force multiplier in solution roll out
  4. Interpersonal skills: high level of communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills required
  5. Experienced in people management
