Job Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
Plan, direct, and implement every aspect of the Quality, health and safety functions pertaining to personnel and the protection of company property and the environment. Direct all QHSSE functions for the Oil & Gas sector in conformance with local laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. Implement and monitor various processes to maintain ISO standards certification for all Libya entities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Plan and implement QHSSE policies and procedures in compliance with local laws and regulations as well as company policies and procedures
- Lead the formation and operation of safety committees and safety surveys. Analyze the purchase and use of safety equipment
- Plan, schedule and present the policies and procedures to key personnel through engagement meetings, ensure understanding, and encourage communication
- Inspect organizational facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented
- Leads the investigation of incidents / accidents and injuries
- Lead the implementation of ISO programs for all entities
- Perform all duties and responsibilities of the Emergency Coordinator
- Recognition / rewards program that target examples of outstanding QHSSE performance Conduct audits that will be complete and thorough, report results, and follow up on corrective actions
- At regular intervals, implement on site visits and review implementation with key / supervisory staff

Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equiv. work experience) in Occupational Safety, or a related degree
- 10 years’ experience in the QHSSE functions related in the Oil & Gas sector
- Knowledge of regulations relating to air quality and waste management
- Management experience at leading and directing other Engineers and Technicians
- Excellent communication skills needed for training others
- Proven Project Management.
- Bi-lingual (Arabic & English)
- Collection, evaluation, analysis of information
- Strong, clear communication skills (oral and written both in Arabic & English)
- Willing to operate as coach, trainer and mentor to field crews
- Knowledge of behavioral safety processes
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to keep detailed and accurate records
- Computer skills (Word, Power Point, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook)
- Given established procedures and policies, demonstrates strong decision making abilities and innovative problem solving
- Detail oriented, but able to see the big picture and prioritize tasks
- Ethical behavior
