Trust Consultancy and Development is looking for remote interns/ junior officers to contribute to its research and evaluation in international development and humanitarian aid in the MENA region and beyond; for three (3) months with possible 3 months extension, (either part time or full time).
About Trust
Trust Consultancy and Development is an independent Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and Capacity Development consulting firm based in Gaziantep, Turkey. Founded in 2016, Trust is now a well-established leading provider of third-party monitoring (TPM), evaluations, verification, capacity building, and data collection services for development and humanitarian programming in Syria and the surrounding MENA region. To date, Trust has conducted more than 80 projects, for clients including GIZ, Expertise France, Relief International, Mercy Corps, Care International, World Vision, Save the Children, IMC, CARE, Women for Women and other international and regional non-governmental organizations (NGOs), businesses, and donors. So far, Trust had assignments in Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen, South Sudan, Afghanistan and Libya.
Description of position:
Trust Consultancy is looking for innovative researchers to join our Junior Officer Program. This program seeks to provide students, recent graduates, and emerging professionals with the opportunity to advance their knowledge in international development, humanitarian aid, and monitoring and evaluation. Unlike many traditional internships, our Junior Project Officers are given purposeful tasks and genuine responsibilities that will enhance their own professional development as well as the mission and goals of the company. Our junior officers write proposals, conduct literature and desk reviews, draft policy papers, manage databases, design tools for data collection, conduct data analysis, write reports, prepare translations, organize webinars, write blog posts, and conduct market research, among many other tasks. Our program is aimed at preparing all participants to embark on successful careers in M&E and humanitarian work.
This program is specifically geared toward individuals who are interested in conducting research and monitoring & Evaluation. The successful candidate(s) will contribute to important research underway in the field, and may have the opportunity to present this research at sector-specific conferences. The areas of our JO program are:
Proposal writing and research
In this department, you will truly see what goes on behind the scenes in Trust and be exposed to the workings of a consultancy that works primarily in the humanitarian sector. You will be involved in writing proposals to gain new projects for Trust; this is essential to all of Trust’s work. In addition, Trust is requested to write grants proposals for some local NGOs.
Monitoring and Evaluation
The M&E department collects and analyses the primary data collected by our operations team (on the field) and presents it in reports. In this role you will engage in qualitative and quantitative data analysis, helping Project officers to present information and …. In addition to these areas, we accept interns for media and commendation department, training department and operations (field work) department.
Skills Desired
We are particularly proud of the diversity of people that our program attracts, united by interest in the region and in working in the humanitarian sphere. In order to continue this, we seek people who possess one (or more) of four skills. Your application will be assessed against these criteria:
· Proposal and report writing and editing (consultancy proposals and grants proposals)
o For this you must possess excellent native-level English writing skills and be confident at drafting proposals and reports and proof-reading for finalization.
· Research skills
o You must be adept at conducting research including desk reviews and literature reviews and have experience using secondary research methods (the kinds of skills gained through writing essays and dissertations)**
· Qualitative Analysis
o You should have conducted qualitative analysis before
o Excellent command of English and Turkish or Arabic for conducting interviews
· Quantitative Analysis
o You must have experience with quantitative data analysis, creating data analysis tools, matrices… Familiarity with R and Kobo…**
Details
The length of the internship is 3 months, with the possibility of extension to up to six months based on both parties’ requirements. Applicants who are invited for interview will have a semi-structured conversation with Trust staff that focuses on skills, interest, what motivates you, why you want to work for Trust, and your regional interest and experience. You will then have to complete a short-written assignment designed to assess your written and research capabilities.
