Job Description
Under the overall supervision of the Information Management & Technology Officer and direct supervision of the IM/IT National Officer , the information management assistant candidate will provide the necessary Information Management and operations in the Country Offices.
Responsibilities
- Support developing and maintaining data systems and analytics, ensuring data integrity and generating insights for informed decision-making.
- Aid in identifying organizational challenges and needs, translating them into practical solutions.
- Assist in advising the mission on the best use of technology and incorporating process improvements to optimize and serve IOM operations.
- Contribute to implementing and adopting digital innovation initiatives and solutions.
- Incorporate Information security features by design in IM solutions developed at the mission level to meet the IOM information security standards.
- Aid in collecting business requirements and preparing documentation, ensuring the creation of efficient, scalable, and optimized application designs.
- Develop and maintain low code Microsoft Power Apps, Automate and PowerBi applications, portals, workflows, and Services for business process automation using tools in incompliance with the IOM systems architecture standards
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of reliable documentation (i.e. SOP kits) to track software development portfolio including applications, business rules, database design, troubleshooting, user and technical manuals, and application installation and code deployment.
- Assist in developing and implementing dynamic reporting solutions and visualization using Power BI and other standard visualization tools.
- Keep track of existing and new applications in the region and identify opportunities for performance enhancement through collaborative integration and optimization
- Contribute to the review and refinement of design and code artifacts and appropriately address any issues or bugs
- Participate in the piloting, testing, and implementing innovative solutions to meet mission business requirements.
- Provide guidance and training to new staff, ensuring their integration into the team and equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge for the development and use of IM systems
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Management, or a related field or other related technical fields from an accredited academic institution with 3 years of relevant professional experience
- High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Specialized formal training on IT systems, business software (Microsoft Office) and web-based applications or other relevant industry certifications is an advantage.
- At least 4 years’ experience in designing, creating, and configuring Microsoft SharePoint Online, creating online applications and workflows using Microsoft Power Platform namely Power Apps, Power BI, Power Pages and Power Automate.
- Knowledge of web services, Rest APIs, JavaScript, XSLT and SFTP;
- Knowledge of integrating security in application development
Skills
- Ability to create mock-ups, application prototypes, and test integrations
- Ability to work in a team environment; initiate and manage group studies to learn more about supporting the current infrastructure.
- Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language to non-technical staff and end-users’ knowledge of an issue-tracking system an advantage
