Main Purpose |
Supervise the day-to-day management and quality intercultural mediation services for vulnerable migrants in Misrata according to MSF values, standards and procedures in order to foster the removal of linguistic and cultural barriers and improve the quality of and access to quality health care and socio/legal services.

Accountabilities |
• Managing dynamics in communication between the supervisor, patient and care providers; preventing and managing possible misunderstandings, communication blockages and tension; interpreting; psychological first aid; information and orientation (e.g. sociolegal); collecting testimonies and providing emotional support. Ensuring proper collaboration, communication and information sharing with different activities/departments (Medical, Logistics, Admin, Finance, Mental Health, Protection).
• Performing intercultural mediation activities with migrants hosted in the MSF facilities and facilitating the development of daily recreational activities.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities |
– Manage the overall running and daily functions of the MSF facility; – Engage and build trust with beneficiaries by participating in activities, discussions, facilitating feedback sessions, etc. – Communicate special needs of beneficiaries to medical, mental health and protection colleagues; – Responsible for the well-being and safety of beneficiaries by ensuring their basic needs are met (food, hygiene); – Under the supervision of the HAO and with the support of the protection counsellor, support individual case management for beneficiaries; – Address conflict and tensions between beneficiaries and request for support in unresolved situation; – Ensuring proper and due time data collection and other monitoring requirements; – Working during night or weekend might be requested.

Requirements | |
Education | • Desirable degree in social work, or social sciences;
|
Experience | • Minimum two years’ experience in related position and in migration/ refugees programs
• Experience as a social worker is an asset • Arabic and English language essential • Any other language is an asset
