Job Overview

Key responsibilities:

S/he will be responsible, under the supervision of the centre manager, for the implementation of the Psycho-Social Support (PSS) and educational activities for children attending Bayti center, as well as for the assessment, identification, assistance and follow up of beneficiaries.

Responsibilities/duties:

  • Under the supervision of the center manager, s/he will guarantee the implementation of the planned Psycho-Social support activities for children.
  • Supervise the daily play time which include different type of play (creative, imaginative, physical, and communicative) to ensure children have access to an appropriate broad range of possibilities.
  • Conduction of the academic support and non-formal education activities that may include literacy, numeracy, and Language.
  • Identify within the activities the children in need of further assistance and inform the centre manager to identify the support/referral methodology.
  • Facilitate the link and the referral of the beneficiaries to case management services for appropriate service provision and follow up when needed;
  • Collect accurate feedback information from beneficiaries to feed the internal knowledge base to improve future programming and improve accountability of the overall mission;
  • Participate in organized assessments on CP and vulnerability conducted in the area of operation;
  • S/he will be responsible for the follow up exercise of those supported through the action, and the update of the related database, to be compiled ex ante and ex post, in order to measure the impact of the intervention.
  • S/he will perform any other tasks requested by the Centre Manager in the framework of the activities foreseen by INTERSOS program in Libya.

Other responsibilities:

  • Uphold the INTERSOS Code of Conduct and policies.
  • Ensure the respect of the core humanitarian principles: neutrality, impartiality, independence and humanity and the respect of the “do no harm” principle of humanitarian action.
  • Strictly follow the internal procedures and guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);

Required qualification and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in social studies, education, humanitarian actions or any related field.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience as teacher, social worker or similar.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience working with children and youth
  • Excellent Arabic and English required, both spoken and written, French is an asset
