System Engineer / Administrator
Job Description
The role of system engineer / administrator is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, protecting, operating, managing and maintaining the company new and existing systems networked computing infrastructure, ensuring that the system runs smoothly and efficiently, and resolving any technical issues that may arise.
Job Responsibility
The main job responsibilities are:
- Design, plan, deploy and manage new and/or existing systems network computing infrastructure including all different components (virtualization, servers, storage, network).
- System Performance Tuning.
- Ensuring parity between dev, test and production environments.
- Suggest new ideas and solutions to problems
- Maintain and constantly improve existing systems
- Determine bottleneck in the systems infrastructure and suggest solutions to problems
- Participate in security management
- Use diagnostic tools to determine deficiencies
- Suggest and oversee improvement processes
- Stay up to date with latest technology and best practices
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability, as well security. · Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
- Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
- Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Provide guidance and level 3 (L3) support.
Qualification
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
Experience :
- +3 years’ experience as system engineer / administrator.
- Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments
- System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
- MCSE/MCSA certifications preferred
- Exceptional knowledge of networking technologies (OSI network layers, TCP/IP).
- Experience using Linux and/or Unix environments, Debian and/or Ubuntu
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) highly desirable
- VMWare Certification highly desirable
- Cisco Certification highly desirable
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure)
Skills
- Very good understating in cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure).
- Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
- installing, configuring, managing and troubleshooting
- Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
- Familiarity with administration, performance tuning, and system monitoring.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools.
- Developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
