Senior Systems Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of

Purpose of job

the information systems that support core organization functions. This is achieved by analyzing, resolving, escalated service issues, coaching other engineers to resolutions, engineering and implementing complex projects, and for maintaining and overseeing the technology of their assigned accounts. This role is a key position within the service department and will be called upon to resolve the highest level technical issues.

Duties and responsibilities – measurable in terms of time, cost, quality or quantity.

Duty 1

Technical Responsibilities

· Hands-on experience in Windows Server.

· Hands-on experience in Linux RHEL.

· Hands-on experience in virtualization environment (VMware & Hyper-V)

· Hand-on experience in Servers, SAN storage, NAS.

· Knowledge in SMPP server and client side.

· Decent communication skills (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Duty 2

Operational Management

· Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.

· Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.

· Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability

· Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.

· Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.

· Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.

· Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.

· Provide required support (L2 / L3)

· Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

· Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.

· Documentation and reports

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Duty 3

Acquisition & Deployment

· Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.

· Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.

· Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure system- related products and services.

Required Specifications

	Essential	Desirable
Skills and knowledge	Good understanding of database architecture.
	Modify existing software to correct errors or to improve its performance.
	System monitoring including memory usage, regular auditing of backup tasks and/or execution thereof.
	Fault recognition, isolation and forwarding DB related issues to Level 2 Support
Experience	· At least 3 Years as a System Engineer · Windows Server (Active Directory Group Policies, DNS, DHCP management)	Experience of MS SQL Server database manipulation and Transact-SQL
Qualifications (ceritificate with new date)	· BSc in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent degree, or equivalent experience can be substituted for degree. · Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MSCE)	· RedHat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
