Position Title: TB (Tuberculosis) Doctor.

Position Reports to: National Medical Coordinator.

Field Site: Tripoli.

Date Needed: 1st, March 2020.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage the team under his direct responsibility according to IMC HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling visits, an ensure timely attendance and departure in the clinic location.
  • Work as a team with other medical providers as well as non-medical staff to ensure a better more efficient patient care.
  • Provides direct supervision and on-job capacity building to OPD doctors on technical and managerial aspects related to TB care.
  • Act as a mentor for the clinical management of TB.
  • Develop and co-facilitate technical TB trainings.
  • Improve quality of care and treatment for TB patients with from diagnostics, to linkage with NCDC/NTP, treatment and retention in care at health center, clinic and community levels.
  • Ensure all the lab pre-work is done before referring subjected TB cases to NCDC/TB.
  • Ensure best medical care available for all patients according to NCDC/NTP guidelines.
  • Ensure good communications amongst doctors, OPD staffs, patients and patient family.
  • Follows the hygiene standards in OPD.
  • Collaborates with PHC supervisor to insure improved quality service in OPD.
  • Ensure good documentation of the patient clinical findings, vital signs monitoring and treatments.
  • Ensures that diagnosis, management and treatment are properly done according to IMC clinical guidelines and SOPs.
  • Ensures that counselling services are done appropriately following protocols before doing HIV testing.
  • Works in collaboration with the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) to provide health education materials related to prevention and treatment of TB.
  • Ensure that transmission of HIV is avoided with the help of Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP).
  • Follow strictly IMC clinical protocols and ensure the medical team under his supervision are following them.
  • Responsible for referrals from the PHC s to the NCDC/NTP facilities, in close collaboration with MOH doctors.
  • Supports in the follow up of previously hospitalized patients and complicated cases, coming back to the OPD consultations.
  • Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material.
  • Ensures universal precautions followed at all times, contributes to reducing bio-hazard risk and infection control improvements. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards by his team.
  • Conduct home visits for medical consultation of beneficiaries if required.
  • Perform regular health education sessions for beneficiaries related to TB.
  • Obtain appropriate information and maintain sufficient patient records as needed.
  • Provide patients with correct information regarding his/her conditions, and ensures patient confidentiality.
  • Work and plan with other program staff on program activities needed to be implemented on the ground.
  • Inform his/her supervisor of any needs in the facility for prompt action.
  • Provide a regular written and verbal updates regarding activities conducted including monthly reports and daily data collection report on morbidity and services rendered.
  • Submit the monthly drug consumption report to supervisor.
  • Follow security protocols including: provide travel updates on a daily basis to security focal point and supervisor.
  • Any other responsibilities assigned by his/her supervisor for the fulfilment of program objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Registered medical doctor.
  • Experience in medical/clinical care for TB and HIV including MDR-TB.
  • At least 1 to 3 years’ clinical experience.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to provide feedback/reports regarding work -related activities.
  • IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Language Skills:

Fluent in Arabic, and English.
