Position: Arabic, English, Mathematics and French teachers
Job Site: Tripoli – Libya
Report to: Center Manager
Status: Volunteer/Part time
Key responsibilities:
S/he will be responsible, under the supervision of the centre manager and Social workers, for the
implementation of the educational activities for children attending Bayti center, as well as for the
assessment, identification, assistance and follow up of beneficiaries.
Responsibilities/duties:
- Under the supervision of the center manager, s/he will guarantee the implementation of the planned non-formal education for children;
- supervise the daily play time which include different type of play (creative, imaginative, physical, and communicative) to ensure children have access to an appropriate broad range of possibilities;
- Conduction of the academic support and non-formal education activities that may include literacy, numeracy and Language;
- Identify within the activities the children in need of further assistance and inform the social worker and the center manager in order to identify the support/referral methodology;
- Collect accurate feedback information from beneficiaries to feed the internal knowledge base to
improve future programming and improve accountability of the overall mission; - S/he will be responsible for the follow up exercise of those supported through the action, and the
update of the related database, to be compiled ex ante and ex post, in order to measure the impact of the intervention; - S/he will perform any other tasks requested by the center Manager and/or by the Supervisor in the framework of the activities foreseen by INTERSOS program in Libya.
Other responsibilities:
- Uphold the INTERSOS Code of Conduct and policies;
- Ensure the respect of the core humanitarian principles: neutrality, impartiality, independence and humanity and the respect of the “do no harm” principle of humanitarian action.
- Strictly follow the internal procedures and guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
- Ideally at least 2 years of professional experience as a teacher preferably in formal schools / private schools.
- Extensive field experience working with children with different ages;
- Proven experience in dealing with community members, local leaders and other stakeholders;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage efficiently multiple priorities, deadlines and tasks with attention to details;
- Ability to communicate effectively with variety of people, and express oneself in a clear and concise way;
- Strong communication skills;
- excellent Arabic spoken and written language skills. Ability to communicate and write in English is an asset;
- Excellent team working skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment and under pressure is Necessary;
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills;
- Capable to attend the work in the Center and to travel around in case of Outreach activities.
