Job Summary:
Women Empowerment Officer will be responsible for providing empowerment activities targeting the conflict-affected and non-/displaced women and girls and survivors of GBV in program locations in Libya. Under the direct supervision of the GBV manager, Women Empowerment Officers work directly with women and girls, utilize the soft-skill building toolkits for women and girls,
identify the life-skill activities, establish community-based prevention and response structures, and ensure GBV guiding principles and survivor-centered approaches are abided. She will work closely with a caseworker to tailor the GBV messages in awareness-raising activities and identify community-based risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field – law, social work, social sciences, public health, preferred;
- At least 1 year of relevant experience with social work, education, or with a humanitarian NGO (master’s degree can be accepted as 1-year experience)
- A clear understanding of and interest in the wellbeing of women and girls, and supporting their healing after the experience of violence.
- Excellent understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for beneficiaries.
- Commitment to promoting women and girls’ rights and stopping GBV.
- Very strong communication skills, with a good understanding of relevant cross-cultural and sensitive issues, and ability to gain trust and to build relationships with local authorities and new communities.
- Strict adherence to Humanitarian and Protection Standards, and GBV Guiding Principles, as well as organizational policies including Code of Conduct and Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.
- Positive and professional attitude, including the ability to lead and work well in a team setting.
- Strong ability to maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, and work in a difficult environment.
- Flexible with working hours.
- Strong analytical skills and able to handle pressure well.
- Team player a must.
- Strong organizational and communication skills are required.
- Native Arabic speaker essential, fluency in spoken and written English desirable.
- Familiarity with the MOH health care system is essential.
- Proficiency in basic computer systems such as MS Windows and relevant computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Outlook essential.
OTHER COMMENTS:
- Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse – Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time by supervisors
