GVC in Libya
Sectors of Intervention:
GVC has been operating in Libya since 2018 through the implementation of the following intervention sectors:
- Humanitarian Aid for host, displaced, migrant and refugee populations through projects promoting access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), primary health, etc.
- Capacity building of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)
- Promoting respect for Human Rights, in connection with the field of humanitarian protection
Location:
GVC has been working in Tripoli. The organization starting new programs in the West of Tripoli and the South of Libya
Job description
The Protection Officer will lead and ensure quality implementation of based protection approach guidance, and ensure the correct implementation of the safe referrals of urgent protection concerns to GVC Gender and Protection Manger (based in Tunis) and external specialized services according to GVC policies. S/he will be under the direct supervision of the Sebha Field Coordinator.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Implementing activities and the work plans with the Protection & Gender Manager.
- Respect for principles of confidentiality, ethical information gathering.
- Conduct the assessments and analysis of access and barriers for vulnerable groups, and draft needed findings under the guidance of the protection Manager.
- Contribute to the beneficiaries’ analysis including the vulnerable groups in Sebha.
- Ensure the Integrated Protection SOPs are followed up when deliver the items.
- Support beneficiaries with support groups and networks, and other community-based resources, as appropriate – as well as coordinate provision of services with referral partners.
- Refer urgent cases with serious protection problems to appropriate case management service providers.
- Ensure proper documentation and manage, file and store referral data and ensure the confidentiality of the collected information, data and the services provided.
- Ensure appropriate monitoring, review and following up of the services provided as per the SOP.
- Submit weekly and monthly progress reports to the Protection & Gender Manager.
- Participate in planning meetings to ensure adherence to quality safe referrals and reporting requirements are followed.
- Implement an effective monitoring and reporting system.
- Perform other duties, as needed or requested by the supervisor.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Knowledge
- Computer literate – Basic MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project.
- Arabic native speaker.
- Proficient knowledge of spoken and written and English.
- High Diploma or University degree.
Professional experience
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
Personal skills
- Good time-management and organizational skills.
- Team player.
- Good interpersonal skills including ability to gain trust, build relationships and promote team spirit.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of beneficiaries at all times.
